We concentrate our fishing in These marine areas
The 2007 Puget Sound salmon fishing package includes some expanded fishing opportunities.
  • New for 2007 Summer king salmon fishing for marked Chinook salmon in marine area 9 and area 10 july 16 to August 15
  • continuation of the new selective hatchery winter Blackmouth fishery in marine areas 8-1 and 8-2 (Deception Pass to Port Gardner)
  • Area 9 opens on July 15
  • Area 9 and 10 summer selective king fishery
  • expanded selective winter Blackmouth fishery
  • Area 10 opens on June 1

Marine Area 8-1 (Deception Pass, Hope Island, and Skagit Bay):

May 1-July 31: Closed to salmon angling.

Aug. 1-Sept. 30: Two fish limit, release Chinook and pink.

Oct 1 - Oct 31: closed 

Nov. 1-April 30: Two fish limit, Chinook 22-inch minimum size, release wild Chinook.

Marine Area 8-2 (Port Susan and Port Gardner):

May 1-July 31: Closed to salmon angling.

Aug. 1-Sept. 30: 2 + 2 fish limit, release Chinook.

Oct 1 - Oct 31: closed

Nov. 1-April 30: Two fish limit, Chinook 22-inch minimum size, release wild Chinook.

Tulalip Special Area Recreational Fishery:

Same as Area 8-2, except during the period June 1 through Sept. 25. Open 12:01 a.m. Friday - 11:59 a.m. Monday of each week. Open within Tulalip Special Area boundaries only. Closed east of the line from Mission Point to Hermosa Point. Two fish daily limit. Minimum size for Chinook is 22 inches.

Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet):

May 1-July 15: Closed

July 16 Aug 15:    2 + 2 fish limit release wild Chinook and Chum. Chinook Hatchery retention may close earlier if combined area 9 and 10 quota of 7000 Hatchery Chinook is attained.

Aug 16 - Sept 30: 2 + 2 Fish limit release Chinook and Chum

Oct. 1-Oct. 31: Two fish daily limit, release Chinook.

Nov. 1-30: Two fish daily limit, only one of which may be a Chinook. Minimum size for Chinook is 22 inches.

Dec. 1-Jan. 31: Closed.

Edmonds Pier: Open year-round with a two fish daily limit, only one of which one may be a Chinook. Minimum size for Chinook is 22 inches. Chum must be released Aug. 1-Sept. 30.

Marine Area 10 (Seattle-Bremerton):

SALMON - ENTIRE AREA

June 1-June 30 Catch-and-release. Open only north of a line from Point Monroe to Meadow Point.
Handling Rule in effect for all SALMON. Single-point barbless hooks required.

July 1-July 15 No min. size. Daily limit 2 (combined), plus 2 additional PINK. Release CHINOOK.
Handling Rule in effect for CHINOOK.

July 16-Aug. 15 CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON - no min. size. Daily limit 2 (combined),
plus 2 additional PINK. Release wild CHINOOK. Handling Rule in effect for wild
CHINOOK. Release CHUM beginning Aug. 1. Handling Rule in effect for CHUM
beginning Aug. 1. Single-point barbless hooks required. Hatchery CHINOOK
retention may close earlier if combined Area 9 and 10 quota of 7,000 hatchery
CHINOOK or Area 10 quota of 1,700 hatchery CHINOOK is attained.

Aug. 16-Sept. 30 No min. size. Daily limit 2 (combined), plus 2 additional PINK. Release CHINOOK.
Handling Rule in effect for CHINOOK. Release CHUM through Sept. 15. Handling
Rule in effect for CHUM through Sept. 15.  Elliot Bay repones under Marine Area 10 rules Aug. 22.

Oct. 1-Oct. 15 No min. size. Daily limit 2 (combined). Release CHINOOK. Handling Rule in effect for
CHINOOK.

Oct. 16-Nov. 30 CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON species - no min. size. Daily limit 2
(combined). Only 1 CHINOOK may be retained.

Dec. 1-Jan. 31 CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON species - no min. size. Daily limit 2.
Release wild CHINOOK. Handling rule in effect for wild CHINOOK. Single-point
barbless hooks required.


Inner Elliott Bay Fishery
July 6 - 11:59 a.m. Aug. 20 Open Fridays through Mondays ONLY, except closed at 11:59 a.m. Monday,
August 20. CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON species - no min. size. Daily
limit 2 (combined), plus 2 additional PINK. Aug. 1-Aug. 20: release CHUM.
Aug. 1-Aug. 20: handling Rule in effect for CHUM. See Elliott Bay closure on
previous page.
July 1-Sept. 30 CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON species - no min. size. Daily limit 2
(combined), plus 2 additional PINK. Aug. 1-Sept. 15: release CHUM. Aug. 1-Sept. 15:
handling Rule in effect for CHUM.
Elliott Bay Fishing Pier at Terminal
86, Seacrest Pier, Waterman Pier,

Year-round CHINOOK - min. size 22". Other SALMON species - no min. size. Daily limit 2
(combined). Only 1 CHINOOK may be retained. July 1-Sept. 30: daily limit may
