All Star Seattle Fishing Charters FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What
should I bring and wear?
Everything you need to fish with is provided.
You need to bring a lunch, camera, binoculars,
sunscreen, sunglasses, warm clothes and a
desire to have fun and catch fish. We can
arrange for box lunches if you desire. If you
forget any thing let us know, we usually have
some spares on the boat. You will see marine
mammals, Seals, Sea Lions and occasionally
Dahls Porpoise and Orca Whales. If it might
rain you should bring rain gear, but the cabin
is covered and you can go inside anytime. It's
best to dress in layers so you can peel some
off when it gets warm, or put some on if it
cools off.
Will we
still go if the weather is bad?
If the water is too rough for safety we will
reschedule or cancel. If it's raining, we'll
still go. The boat has a covered and heated
cabin so you can get out of the rain if
necessary. Around here we can't let a little
rain stop us.
If
something comes up and I can't go, do I get my
deposit back?
Cancellations although rare are sometimes
inevitable. We will work with you to the best
of our ability, rescheduling is the best
policy. If you must cancel you are required to
give us at least 7 days notice for a full
refund. If you notify us less than 7 days
before the trip we will refund the deposit if
we are able to rebook the trip with other
people. If we are unable to rebook the trip with other people you will be charged a
$100 per person fee. If you cancel within 72 hours of your scheduled charter or do not show up for the charter you will be charged the full fare. This is charged to credit card on
file at time of reservation
Do you
have a refrigerator for our drinks?
There is a box for fish, but you will need to
bring a cooler for your drinks.
Is it
better to fish in the morning or in the
evening?
That's hard to say because sometimes fishing is
better in the AM, and sometimes in the PM. It
really depends on what time you like to get up
in the morning.
Where to
stay?
if you are fishing from our Everett location.
We recommend the Inn At Port Gardner
1-888-252-6779. Walking distance to the boat.
If you are fishing from our Seattle location.
we recommend Hotel Nexus Seattle 800-435-0754.
just a short drive to the boat. We will be glad
to help you find suitable accommodations.
Departure
Times?
The morning trips normally depart around
daylight and the afternoon trips usually depart
around 1:00PM. If you have the boat reserved
for your party we can adjust the departure
times to suit your desires.

How far in
advance do you need to book?
As soon as you know the date you want you
should make a reservation. Weekend trips fill
up the fastest. One month in advance is a good
idea. If you have some flexibility in your
dates we can usually accommodate you even on
short notice.
Do you
keep what you catch?
You can keep up to the legal limit. Many
practice catch and release. We clean or fillet
and bag the fish you keep
How do you
get your fish home?
We provide free bags. If you want your fish
prepared for shipping a local fish market close
to the dock helps with that. They will put it
in a box and use gel packs to ship fresh fish.
You can have your fish smoked and vacuum
packed, then shipped if you like. We are glad
to help you with your fish.
How far
out do we go to fish?
Puget Sound is protected water with no ocean
swells. You will be fishing within sight of
land usually within a mile or less of shore.
The average travel time to the fishing grounds
is 15 to 30 minutes
How old do
you have to be to fish?
All ages are welcome. We have taken people from
1 week old to 95 years old.
How long
does the trip last?
Standard trips last six to seven hours from
check in time till you return to the dock. We
offer 4 hour trips for those so inclined.
Private charters can be structured to meet your
time schedule.
Do you
need a fishing license?
Yes if you are 16 years of age or over. We are
a licensed dealer and carry one-day licenses on
the boat. The cost is $10 per person whether you
are a resident or non-resident of
Washington.
What is
the maximum number of people on the
boat?
The boat is licensed to carry up to six
passengers for hire. The boat is large enough
and safe enough to handle many more than that.
If you have reserved the boat for a private
charter you can expect to have only your party
on the boat.
Is there a
first mate or deck hand?
Most of the time there is just the captain and
your party. The boat is set up very well with
autopilots and design of fishing gear, which
allows the captain to assist you.
What
fishing techniques do you use?
Most salmon fishing is done trolling with
downriggers, using light to medium tackle. We
fish with lots of different lures and sometimes
bait.
Is there a
place that will cook your fish?
Most restaurants don't want to deal with this
for health reasons.
What are
your payment options?
A credit card is required to
guarantee your reservation. The total amount is
due at time of check in. By making a reservation you are agreeing to our cancelation Policy We prefer cash or check for final payment. We will accept visa or master card.
Reservations are required; and a credit card is
required in order to guarantee you a seat.
